Building a Natural Home in Thailand

Thirty years ago almost all farming in Thailand was organic and most homes were constructed out locally available materials. Now farming is heavily industrialised, farmers use massive amounts of chemicals to produce raw materials for the food processing industry. Most villagers have now forgotten how to farm organically and most do not even know how to grow their own vegetables. Thai villages, once picturesque collections of wood and thatch houses, are now made of concrete and steel  and littered with plastic bags and empty water bottles.

These pages will describe one person’s attempt to reverse the trend by building a house and farm in harmony with what is left of the natural environment.
